Coronado sits across the bay from downtown San Diego, about 130 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and there is no quick way to cover that in pieces. One car, one driver, one price is the simple version. Our Los Angeles to Coronado car service runs the whole distance door to door, so you get in at the terminal and get out at your hotel, your house or the gate. LAX to Coronado car service rates

Car service from LAX to Coronado is priced per vehicle, not per seat, so the fare is the same whether one person rides or the car is full. iRide360 is a CPUC-licensed (TCP 43833-A) black car service based in El Segundo, minutes from the airport. Both figures above came off the iRide360 booking form on October 16, 2026 for a one-way trip from the airport to Coronado, and both are fixed at booking, with tolls and taxes included and gratuity optional. We quote one price for one address: the figures are the starting fares for the trip we priced, your own address on the island sets your exact fare, and the booking form shows it before you commit. A LAX to Coronado flat rate means the number you see at booking is the number you pay. There is no surge, no peak-hour multiplier, and no holiday uplift. The LAX to Coronado car service price moves for reasons you control, and stays still for the ones you do not.

Estimates are planning guides. Your exact pickup time, address, vehicle and requested extras determine the confirmed total shown before payment.

What affects the price

  • Your exact address. The Coronado Cays sit about eight miles further down the Silver Strand than the village, and a longer leg costs more.
  • Vehicle class — sedan or SUV.
  • Extra stops along the way, priced for the added distance and time.
  • Wait beyond the complimentary period: $1 per minute after your first 60 minutes at LAX.
  • Add-ons chosen at booking: meet and greet $25, child seats from $25 each, pet fee $25.
  • Traffic on the day. You booked a price, not a meter.
  • The time of day you travel, including a 1 AM departure.
  • A delayed flight. We track it and move your pickup at no charge.

What your fare includes

  • Every LAX arrival includes 60 minutes of complimentary wait after you land, then $1 per minute. A pickup at a Coronado address includes 15 minutes of complimentary wait.
  • Luggage help at both ends.

Added only when requested

How an LAX arrival works, step by step

  1. 1

Book online or call dispatch on (833) 743-3360, giving your flight number and your Coronado address.

  2. 2

We track your inbound flight. If it is delayed, your pickup time moves with it at no charge.

  3. 3

Land and collect your bags. Your chauffeur pulls up curbside on the lower Arrivals level, or waits inside the terminal with a name sign if you added meet and greet for $25.

  4. 4

Your chauffeur loads your luggage and drives the roughly 130 miles to the address you gave.

  5. 5

You pay the rate that was fixed at booking. Gratuity is optional and chosen at checkout.

Terminal by terminal

Where do we meet you at LAX?

Your LAX to Coronado airport transfer starts the moment you are through baggage claim. The default is curbside on the lower Arrivals level: your chauffeur stays in contact and pulls up when you say you are ready. If you would rather be met inside, add meet and greet for $25 at booking and your chauffeur waits in the terminal with a name sign. Arriving into Tom Bradley International, the meeting point is the arrivals hall after customs, or the lower-level curb. For LAX airport to Coronado runs we do not use the LAX-it rideshare lot — prearranged licensed operators meet passengers at the terminal, so there is no shuttle bus between you and your car.

Terminals 1, 2 and 3

Curbside on the lower Arrivals level outside your baggage claim doors, or meet and greet inside the terminal with a name sign.

Terminals 4, 5 and 6

Lower Arrivals level curb once your bags are in hand; your chauffeur's name, phone number and vehicle are sent before you land.

Terminals 7 and 8

Lower Arrivals level curb, or an in-terminal meet at baggage claim if you added meet and greet.

Tom Bradley International Terminal

After customs and immigration, meet your chauffeur in the arrivals hall with a name sign, or at the lower-level curb.

Not sure where to go?

Call live dispatch at (833) 743-3360 and we will walk you to your chauffeur. We do not use the LAX-it rideshare lot.

Every LAX arrival includes 60 minutes of complimentary wait after you land, then $1 per minute. A pickup at a Coronado address includes 15 minutes of complimentary wait.

Delayed flights

Flight tracking is included on every iRide360 airport pickup, so your pickup time moves with the delay at no charge. Nothing is needed from you.

Early arrivals

Land ahead of schedule and dispatch will bring the chauffeur forward where a vehicle is available — call dispatch so we can confirm.

Diversions or rebooking

If your airline re-routes you to another airport or flight, call dispatch with the new details and we will requote and reassign the pickup.

One measured estimate, read October 16, 2026

How long is the drive from LAX to Coronado?

Here is the honest version of LAX to Coronado drive time. We have one measurement for this route, not a season's worth: our booking engine put the trip at 2 hours 36 minutes for a 6:25 AM departure on October 16, 2026, over 129.5 miles. That is one reading on one morning, and we would rather give you that with its date attached than publish a range we did not measure.

The takeaway: we measured one direction once, and we use that single figure in both directions.

LAX → Coronado

DirectionWhat we measuredWhen
LAX → Coronado129.5 miles, 2 hours 36 minutes6:25 AM departure, October 16, 2026, per our booking engine
Coronado → LAXSame estimate applied in reverseNot separately measured — see the note below

On the return leg: we have not measured Coronado to Los Angeles separately, so the departure table below works from the same 2 hours 36 minutes. Every pickup time it gives you also carries a 20-minute safety buffer on top of that, which is how we build every departure on this route. What we will not tell you is a minute figure for summer beach weekends, for a Navy event on the island, or for a bad afternoon in the I-5 corridor. All three make this drive longer and you should leave extra room for them. We just have not measured by how much, and a number we made up would be worse than no number.

Getting onto the island: Coronado is reached over the San Diego–Coronado Bridge, which carries State Route 75 across the bay for about two miles, or from the south along the Silver Strand — also State Route 75 — which runs down the sand spit past Silver Strand State Beach to the Coronado Cays. Whichever way the car comes in, tolls are already inside your fare. The distance and drive time above are the booking engine's estimate for a 6:25 AM departure on October 16, 2026.

Departures

When should you leave Coronado for your flight?

This is the part most people get wrong, so we will put the number first: a 6:00 AM flight out of LAX means a pickup in Coronado at about 1:05 AM. Not 4 AM. One in the morning. Booking LAX to Coronado car service in the other direction means planning around 130 miles, and the table below does that arithmetic for you. We allow two hours at LAX for a domestic flight and three for an international one, then the full 2-hour-36-minute drive, then a 20-minute safety buffer. That comes to 4 hours 56 minutes before a domestic flight and 5 hours 56 minutes before an international one, rounded to the nearest five minutes. There is no slow-hour reading on this route to lean on, so every row uses that one measured drive time in full. Every Coronado to LAX pickup time on this page is built that way, and the table below shows the result for six common flight times. The takeaway: the earlier your flight, the more the pickup time moves into the middle of the night.

  • The early ones are genuinely early. A 6:00 AM departure wants you in the car at 1:05 AM, and a 9:00 AM departure wants 4:05 AM. If that is your flight, go to bed early. Dispatch runs 24 hours, so the booking itself is no harder at 1 AM than at 1 PM.
  • A 7:30 AM flight works out to a pickup around 2:35 AM, if you want a sense of how the curve moves between the rows above.
  • These are a guideline, not a promise. They come from one measured drive time plus a fixed buffer. If you are flying on a holiday weekend, or there is an event on the island, leave more room.
  • Coronado pickups include 15 minutes of complimentary wait, so a few minutes of hunting for a passport does not cost you anything.
  • Not sure? Call dispatch on (833) 743-3360 and give us the flight number. We will work the pickup time back with you.

Coronado coverage

Where do we drop you in Coronado?

LAX to Coronado Island drop-offs are door to door, so the address you give at booking is the address the car stops at. A few of them have a wrinkle worth knowing before you book.

Hotel del Coronado

1500 Orange Avenue. Note that Beach Village at The Del has its own address, 1277 R.H. Dana Place, and its own host line. If you are booked into Beach Village, give that address, not the main one, or the car will stop at the wrong end of the property.

Coronado Central Beach

919 Ocean Boulevard. Nearly two miles of sand, lifeguards from 9 AM to dusk, and beach wheelchairs at the Central Beach Lifeguard Tower. A LAX to Coronado beach run puts you down on Ocean Boulevard rather than in a rental car. Coronado Dog Beach is at the far north end.

Coronado Ferry Landing

On First Street. The Flagship ferry crosses from here to Broadway Pier in about 15 minutes, by the USS Midway and Seaport Village, and to the Convention Center side in about five. Departures run every 60 minutes from Broadway Pier and every 30 from the Convention Center.

Naval Air Station North Island

300 Alameda Boulevard, with the Main Gate at Third Street and Alameda Boulevard. Naval Base Coronado requires all visitors to enter the base through the Main Gate and to be prepared to stop and present a U.S. Department of Defense ID card. Unless you have arranged base access yourself, book the drop-off at the Main Gate. Base-access questions go to the installation's Visitor's Center on 619-545-7412.

Orange Avenue

Coronado's shopping street, more than 50 stores through the 100 block and mid-Orange. Hotel del Coronado anchors the south end at 1500 Orange Avenue.

Coronado Golf Course

2000 Visalia Row, described by the course itself as one of the City of Coronado's most treasured assets. Clubs travel better in the SUV.

Loews Coronado Bay Resort

4000 Coronado Bay Road, out at the Coronado Cays, about eight miles down the Silver Strand from the village. Check-in is 4 PM.

Silver Strand State Beach

5000 Highway 75, which California State Parks places 4.5 miles south of the city of Coronado, on the sand spit between Coronado and Imperial Beach.

Residential Coronado

ZIP code 92118, the whole island. House, condo or rental, we come to the address.

Local tips for the Coronado run

  • Give us the Beach Village address if that is where you are staying. The Del's main entrance at 1500 Orange Avenue and Beach Village at 1277 R.H. Dana Place are two different stops.
  • If you are heading to Naval Air Station North Island, plan on the Main Gate. Naval Base Coronado requires all visitors to enter there and to be ready to stop and present a U.S. Department of Defense ID card, so book the drop-off at the gate unless you have arranged base access yourself.
  • The Cays are not the village. Loews Coronado Bay Resort is about eight miles further down the Silver Strand, so build that into your return timing as well as your fare.
  • Summer beach weekends and Navy events both put traffic on the same streets. Leave extra room on those days — we would rather you waited at the airport than missed boarding.
  • The ferry is a lovely way to see downtown San Diego and a poor way to catch a flight. It lands you at Broadway Pier, which is nowhere near LAX.

Compare your options

LAX to Coronado transportation compared

LAX to Coronado transportation comes down to who is responsible when something slips. A private car from LAX to Coronado puts one driver, one price and one 130-mile leg on the hook. The other options break the trip into pieces, and every seam is somewhere you can get stuck. Booking LAX to Coronado car service is the only row below that nobody hands off halfway. Here is how each one actually works — we are not going to quote you anyone else's prices.

The takeaway: the private car is the only row where one driver, one price and one 130-mile leg stay with you from the terminal to the address.

Frequently asked questions

LAX to Coronado car service FAQ

The questions travelers ask before booking a LAX to Coronado transfer, grouped in the order they usually come up.

Cost and booking

How much is car service from LAX to Coronado?

An executive sedan to Coronado starts at $462 and a luxury SUV at $527, one way, gratuity not included. Those are the fares our booking form returned on October 16, 2026 for a trip from the airport to Coronado. Your exact LAX to Coronado car service cost depends on your address on the island, and the form shows it before you book.

Does traffic or a delay change what I pay?

No — your fare to Coronado is fixed when you book, so a slow afternoon on the freeway costs you nothing extra. We also track your inbound flight, and a delay moves your pickup at no charge. The things that do change the fare are your address, your vehicle class, extra stops and any add-ons you choose.

How much is Coronado to LAX car service?

Coronado to LAX car service is quoted the same way as the arrival direction: one fixed price, set when you book, from your exact pickup address. We priced the airport-to-Coronado direction for this page, so your return fare comes from the booking form rather than from a figure here. The return includes 15 minutes of complimentary wait at the pickup, tolls and taxes, and luggage help. Gratuity stays optional and is chosen at checkout.

Is gratuity included in the price?

No, gratuity is optional and entirely yours to set. At checkout you can choose 15%, 18%, 20% — which is preselected — 25%, or a custom amount, including nothing at all. Whatever you choose goes to your chauffeur. The from-prices on this page are the fare before any gratuity.

How far ahead should I book?

Book as early as you can, especially for the pre-dawn departures this 130-mile run needs. A Coronado pickup starting at 1 AM is easier to staff with notice than on the day. You can book LAX to Coronado car service online or through dispatch, and you can change the pickup time, address or vehicle afterwards — the price adjusts to match.

Distance and time

How long is the drive from LAX to Coronado?

The drive to Coronado took 2 hours 36 minutes on the one reading we have: a 6:25 AM departure measured by our booking engine on October 16, 2026. Anyone asking how long from LAX to Coronado should treat that as a starting point, not a guarantee. Summer beach weekends, Navy events on the island and the I-5 corridor all stretch it.

How far is Coronado from LAX?

Coronado is about 130 miles from Los Angeles International Airport. Our booking engine measured the route at 129.5 miles on October 16, 2026. That LAX to Coronado distance puts the island well south of Orange County, across the bay from downtown San Diego, and it is the single biggest reason this trip needs planning rather than improvising.

What time should I leave Coronado for a 6:00 AM flight?

Leave Coronado at about 1:05 AM for a 6:00 AM flight out of LAX. We work back from your flight: two hours at the airport for a domestic departure, then the full 2-hour-36-minute drive, then a 20-minute safety buffer. For a 9:00 AM flight that comes to 4:05 AM. Every Coronado to LAX pickup time on this page is built the same way.

At the airport

Where do you meet me at LAX?

At LAX your chauffeur meets you curbside on the lower Arrivals level by default, staying in contact and pulling up when you are ready with your bags. Meet and greet is not included; for $25 you can add it at booking and be met inside the terminal with a name sign. On a LAX airport to Coronado booking you choose which one you want at checkout.

Do you pick up from the LAX-it lot?

No — iRide360 does not use the LAX-it rideshare lot. As a prearranged licensed operator we meet passengers at the terminal itself, either at the lower Arrivals curb or inside with a name sign. That means no shuttle bus ride between baggage claim and your car, which matters more when a 130-mile drive is still ahead of you.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing — flight tracking is included on every iRide360 airport pickup, so your pickup time moves with the delay at no charge. You also get 60 minutes of complimentary wait after you land. Past that it is $1 per minute. If plans change on the ground, call dispatch on (833) 743-3360.

Vehicles

Should I book the sedan or the SUV?

Take the sedan if there are one or two of you with normal luggage — it carries 3 passengers and 3 bags and it is the lower fare. Take the SUV for up to 5 passengers and 5 bags. A LAX to Coronado SUV is worth it for families, golf clubs and anyone who would rather not find out at the curb whether the bags fit.

Do you offer a limo service to Coronado?

We provide the private, chauffeured airport limousine experience in black executive sedans and luxury SUVs. If you search LAX to Coronado limo expecting a stretch limousine, we are not that — we are a black car service. One chauffeur, one vehicle, door to door, with a price fixed at booking.

Is this a black car service?

Yes — iRide360 is a black car service: black executive sedans and black full-size luxury SUVs, driven by screened and background-checked chauffeurs. Travelers searching for Coronado black car service from LAX are looking for exactly this — a prearranged, licensed, fixed-price private car rather than an app-dispatched ride.

Can I bring a child seat or a pet?

Yes to both. Booster, forward-facing and rear-facing child seats are available from $25 each on request, chosen at booking. Pets travel for a $25 pet fee. Service animals are never charged. Add either at checkout so the right seat is fitted before the car leaves for the airport.

Other ways to get there

What is the best car service to Coronado?

Judge it on four things you can check before you book: a published license number, a published wait policy, flight tracking, and a price that is fixed at booking rather than set on the day. iRide360 publishes all four — CPUC TCP 43833-A, 60 minutes of complimentary wait after you land, flight tracking on every airport pickup, and a rate locked when you book.

How much does an Uber to Coronado cost?

No one can quote a rideshare fare to Coronado in advance, and we will not quote you someone else's price. Rideshare fares are set at request time and rise with demand, so the LAX to Coronado Uber cost you see at 11 AM is not the one you see at 11 PM. Our fare is fixed at booking instead.

Is a taxi cheaper from LAX?

A taxi is metered, so a 130-mile trip costs whatever the meter reads when you arrive — slow traffic makes it more expensive, not less. A LAX to Coronado taxi is also picked up from the LAX-it lot rather than the terminal. We cannot tell you the fare, and neither can the driver before you start.

Is there a shuttle from LAX to Coronado?

Not from iRide360 — a shared shuttle works by collecting several passengers and making several stops, and that is not what we run. If you are searching LAX to Coronado shuttle or Hotel del Coronado airport shuttle, what we offer instead is a private car with no other passengers and no other drop-offs between the terminal and your address.

What is the cheapest way to get from LAX to Coronado?

Public transport, almost certainly — a train or bus south to San Diego, then local transit or the Coronado ferry across the bay. It is also the longest and the most complicated, with every connection a chance to miss one. We are not the cheapest option on this route and we do not claim to be. We are the one that goes door to door.

Coronado specifics

Can my chauffeur drive onto Naval Base Coronado?

Plan on the Main Gate — Naval Base Coronado requires all visitors to enter the base through the Main Gate and to be prepared to stop and present a U.S. Department of Defense ID card. So book a LAX to Naval Base Coronado drop-off at the Main Gate, at Third Street and Alameda Boulevard, unless you have arranged base access yourself. Can you drop me at the Hotel del Coronado?

Yes — iRide360 drops at the Hotel del Coronado, 1500 Orange Avenue. One thing to check first: Beach Village at The Del has its own address, 1277 R.H. Dana Place, and its own host line. If that is your booking, give us that address when you book your LAX to Hotel del Coronado trip so the car stops at the right end of the property.

Do you go out to the Coronado Cays and Loews?

Yes — a LAX to Loews Coronado Bay Resort trip runs to 4000 Coronado Bay Road, out at the Coronado Cays. It is about eight miles further down the Silver Strand than the village, so it is a longer leg than an Orange Avenue address and the fare reflects that. Check-in there is 4 PM.

Can we stop on the way?

Yes — extra stops on a Coronado run are available and priced for the added distance and time, so you will see the effect on your fare before you book. On a drive this long a stop is a reasonable thing to want. Add it at booking, or call dispatch on (833) 743-3360 and we will work it in.

Do you serve the rest of San Diego County?

Yes — iRide360 runs long-distance trips from LAX to San Diego County, the Coachella Valley, Santa Barbara County and the mountain resorts at Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead and Idyllwild. Our Los Angeles to Coronado car service is one of those runs. If you want Los Angeles to Coronado and somewhere else on the same trip, call dispatch and we will price it.
