The Getty Center sits at the top of a hill in Brentwood, off Sepulveda Boulevard beside Interstate 405, and getting there has one twist most travelers meet only on arrival. iRide360, a CPUC-licensed (TCP 43833-A) black car service based in El Segundo near LAX, runs a LAX to Getty Center car service from your terminal to the museum's only public entrance. You pick an executive sedan or a luxury SUV, share your flight number, and see the fare before you pay.

You see the price of your LAX to Getty Center car service before you pay, and it is locked in at booking. Our car service to Getty Center quotes were run to the museum's own arrival area at 1200 Getty Center Drive. Our booking-engine quotes for the two Getty Center points at 1200 Getty Center Drive ran $132 to $134 by sedan and $157 to $159 by SUV, before gratuity, and the same figures came back for a Tuesday at 11 AM and a Friday at 5 PM. The Skirball Cultural Center, the farthest point we priced, came to $136.15 by sedan and $161.70 by SUV. Every fare is a flat rate fixed at booking, with tolls and taxes included and gratuity optional.

Terminal by terminal
Tell us at booking where you want to meet. Curbside, your chauffeur waits at the lower-level Arrivals curb outside your terminal and loads the bags there. With meet-and-greet, your chauffeur stands inside the terminal holding a sign with your name. Flying into the Tom Bradley International Terminal? Your chauffeur is in the arrivals hall once customs is behind you, or down at the curb. There is no walk to the LAX-it rideshare lot: iRide360 is prearranged and licensed, so we come to your terminal. If you cannot see each other, phone dispatch on (833) 743-3360.

Typical, per Google Maps
The LAX to Getty Center drive runs north on Interstate 405 and comes back south on the same freeway; all 20 of our readings used I-405 and nothing else. Times below are typical, per Google traffic estimates (Routes API), measured to 1200 Getty Center Drive and to the Skirball Cultural Center.
Our quickest reading into the museum was a Tuesday at 10 PM, and the slowest was Tuesday morning peak.
| When you leave LAX | To the Getty Center | To the Skirball Cultural Center |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday 8:00 AM | 35 min–1 hr 15 min | 40 min–1 hr 15 min |
| Tuesday 11:00 AM | 25–45 min | 30–50 min |
| Tuesday 5:00 PM | 30 min–1 hr | 40 min–1 hr 10 min |
| Tuesday 10:00 PM | 20–30 min | 20–35 min |
| Friday 5:00 PM | 25–40 min | 30–50 min |
| Saturday 2:00 PM | 25–45 min | 30–45 min |
We measured the ride back to the airport separately, from 1200 Getty Center Drive to LAX, across one Tuesday and one Friday.
Leaving the Getty for LAX was quickest before dawn and slowest in the late Tuesday afternoon.
| Pickup time | Typical drive time |
|---|---|
| Tuesday 3:30 AM | About 20 min |
| Tuesday 6:00 AM | 20–25 min |
| Tuesday 7:00 AM | 25–40 min |
| Tuesday 10:00 AM | 20–35 min |
| Tuesday 3:00 PM | 35 min–1 hr 5 min |
| Tuesday 4:30 PM | 40 min–1 hr 20 min |
| Tuesday 6:30 PM | 30–55 min |
| Friday 2:30 PM | 35 min–1 hr 10 min |
The slowest reading we took in either direction was the ride back to LAX on a Tuesday at 4:30 PM, at 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Saturday is the Getty's late day, and our Saturday 2 PM reading into the museum ran 25–45 minutes.
Drive times on this page are typical, per Google traffic estimates from the Google Routes API, measured in October 2026. Prices come from iRide360's own booking engine and are fixed at booking. Getty Center arrival, tram, opening and reservation details come from the Getty's own visitor pages at getty.edu.
Live map of the current driving route and traffic between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the Getty Center, Los Angeles. Drive time is a planning guide, not a guarantee.
Departures
The museum's own opening pattern decides when your car should arrive, and it is closed one day every week. Entry needs a timed-entry reservation, booked ahead on getty.edu or by phone, so set the entry time first and book the ride to match it. Everyone travels up and down the hill by tram, so leave room for that at both ends of the visit. The one date that stops a visit is a Monday, when the Getty Center is closed.
Getty Center coverage
The Getty Center drop-off is fixed by the museum, not by us, so here is exactly what happens and what each part of the site is.
The designated passenger turnaround
The Getty says cars or vans carrying 15 passengers or fewer may set passengers down at a designated turnaround area at the Main Entrance, by the Main Parking Structure, and that pick-ups are allowed in the same area. That is where your ride ends and your visit begins.
The only public entrance
The Getty warns that some GPS devices give wrong directions and asks drivers to use N Sepulveda Blvd and Getty Center Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90049 to reach its only public entrance. Your chauffeur turns in there and drives up Getty Center Drive.
Lower Tram Station (T1)
From the Getty Center parking structure, an elevator goes up to level T1 past security, and the Getty says the tram station sits about 20 level feet from the elevator doors. This is where visitors board for the top.
Upper Tram Station and the arrival plaza
Visitors leave the tram at the Upper Tram Station at the top of the hill. The Getty recommends the arrival plaza there as a meeting point if your group splits up.
Museum Entrance Hall
Wheelchairs are available on loan at the Lower Tram Station above the parking structure and at the Coat Check Room in the Museum Entrance Hall.
Getty Research Institute Library
The Library keeps different days from the museum: it is open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5pm, while the museum is closed on Mondays.
Skirball Cultural Center
2701 N Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049, the next anchor up Sepulveda Boulevard and the farthest point we priced for this page. It is also closed on Mondays, and is open Tuesday to Friday from noon to 5pm and at weekends from 10am to 5pm.
Residential Brentwood
Any home or office in ZIP code 90049, the neighborhood that surrounds the museum.
Compare your options
Rideshare, taxis, shared shuttles and a private car service to Getty Center all run from the airport, and they differ most in where they find you and how the fare is worked out. Whatever you book, the Getty — not the operator — decides where a vehicle may set passengers down.
The table compares how each option handles pickup, price and luggage.
| Feature | iRide360 private car | Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) | Taxi | Shared shuttle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pickup at LAX | Your terminal: Arrivals curb or inside with a name sign | LAX-it rideshare lot | LAX-it lot | Set by the shuttle operator |
| Price model | Flat rate set at booking; no surge | Changes with demand; shown in the app | Metered | Set by the operator |
| If your flight is late | Flight tracked; the first 60 minutes after landing are free | You order a car after you land | You queue after you land | Set by the operator |
| Help with bags | Your chauffeur lifts them | Up to the driver | Up to the driver | Up to the operator |
| Who rides with you | Your group only | Varies by ride type | Your group only | Other passengers, shared stops |
| Flight tracking | Included | No | No | Depends on the operator |

Frequently asked questions
The questions travelers ask before booking a LAX to Getty Center transfer, grouped in the order they usually come up.
Prices
iRide360 prices its LAX to Getty Center car service from $132 for an executive sedan and $157 for a luxury SUV. Our own quote to the museum's arrival area at 1200 Getty Center Drive was $131.14 by sedan and $156.09 by SUV, before gratuity. Getty Center car service costs no more in rush hour, because there is no surge pricing.
No, traffic does not change your fare. The Getty Center car service price is set when you book and stays there if Interstate 405 slows through the Sepulveda Pass. It moves only if you change the trip: a different address, a different vehicle, an added stop, a child seat, or waiting past the free allowance.
Your fare covers the drive, tolls and taxes, flight tracking, and 60 minutes of waiting after you land at LAX. Onboard you get complimentary Fiji bottled water, free Wi-Fi and phone chargers. Child seats from $25 each, extra stops, a $25 pet fee and waiting past the free allowance are added separately, and the gratuity is yours to set.
Getting there
Book a car, take a rideshare or taxi from the LAX-it lot, or use a shared shuttle. A LAX to Getty Center car service meets you at your own terminal and drives you up Interstate 405 to the museum's passenger turnaround. If you are working out how to get to the Getty Center from LAX with luggage, private Getty Center transportation from LAX avoids every transfer.
You can reach the Getty Center without driving yourself by booking a chauffeured car, by rideshare or taxi, or by public transportation. Whichever you choose, the vehicle stops at the same designated turnaround at the Main Entrance, and the tram takes you up the hill from there. Check the museum's own transportation page for current public transit options.
Yes. The Getty says cars or vans carrying 15 passengers or fewer may set passengers down at a designated turnaround area at the Main Entrance, by the Main Parking Structure, and that pick-ups are allowed in the same area. The Getty Center drop-off sits at the base of the hill, below the Getty Center parking levels, so plan on the tram for the rest.
No, no visitor car goes to the top of the Getty Center hill. The Getty Center tram is how everyone gets up. Your chauffeur stops at the designated turnaround at the Main Entrance, you take the tram from the Lower Tram Station, and you step out at the Upper Tram Station at the top. Coming down works the same way in reverse.
Yes. People search for a LAX to Getty Museum ride and mean the Getty Center at 1200 Getty Center Drive, so a Getty museum car service booking lands at the same address. Give that address when you book, and your chauffeur turns in at N Sepulveda Blvd and Getty Center Dr, the museum's only public entrance.
Yes, iRide360 drives to the Getty Villa Museum as well, but the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades is a different site from the Getty Center and is not this page's destination. The Getty places the Villa 13 miles west of the Getty Center, at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, open daily 10am to 5pm and closed Tuesdays. Book a Getty Villa car service to that address, not this one.
Timing
The Getty Center is open Tuesday to Friday and on Sunday from 10am to 6:30pm, and on Saturday from 10am to 9pm. It is closed on Mondays. It also closes on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, and closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Check the museum's own page before you fix your date.
The Getty Center is about 16 miles from LAX by road, measured to 1200 Getty Center Drive. The route runs north on Interstate 405 and back south the same way, and no reading we took used another freeway. The Skirball Cultural Center, a little further up Sepulveda Boulevard, measured about 19 miles.
Plan on about half an hour from LAX to the Getty Center outside the peaks. The drive typically took 25–45 minutes on a Tuesday at 11 AM and on a Saturday at 2 PM, and 20–30 minutes on a Tuesday at 10 PM. Tuesday morning peak was the slowest, at 35 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. These are typical times, per Google traffic estimates from the Routes API, and real conditions decide the day.
Yes, you need a timed-entry reservation for the Getty Center, booked ahead on getty.edu or by phone on (310) 440-7300. The museum also states that parking reservations are not required or accepted. Book your entry time first, then book the car around it, so the Getty Center hours and your ride line up.
At LAX
Your chauffeur comes to your own LAX terminal, so the LAX-it rideshare lot never enters the picture. At booking you pick the lower-level Arrivals curb or meet-and-greet, where a sign with your name waits inside. Coming through the Tom Bradley International Terminal? Look in the arrivals hall past customs, or go down to the curb. Still cannot see each other? Phone (833) 743-3360.
Your pickup moves with your flight at no extra charge. We track the flight number you give at booking and shift the pickup to the time you actually land. If you are rebooked onto a different flight, call dispatch on (833) 743-3360 with the new number so your chauffeur is waiting when you arrive.
Your chauffeur stays for a full hour after the wheels touch down at LAX, at no charge. That covers a slow carousel on most evenings. After that hour, the wait is billed at $1 per minute. The clock starts at your real landing time, not the one printed on the ticket, because we watch the flight.
Alternatives
It depends on the day, because both move. An Uber from LAX to Getty Center is priced by the app at the moment you order it, and a taxi from LAX to Getty Center runs on a meter, so neither has a fixed answer. Both also start at the LAX-it lot. An iRide360 fare is fixed when you book, from $132 by sedan, and starts at your terminal.
iRide360 runs private cars rather than a shared shuttle. A LAX to Getty Center shuttle, where one runs, keeps its own timetable, its own stops and its own prices, and you may share the vehicle with strangers. Book iRide360 and the car carries your party alone, at a price agreed in advance, straight to the museum's passenger turnaround.
Service
iRide360 is a black car service with executive sedans and full-size luxury SUVs, not stretch limousines. If you are looking for a Getty Center limo service, this is the private, chauffeured airport limousine experience: a professional chauffeur, your party only, and a fare set before you travel. Our California CPUC charter-party license number is TCP 43833-A.
Choose by luggage, not just by headcount. The executive sedan seats 3 passengers with 3 bags; the luxury SUV seats 5 with 5. A museum day often lands at the end of a long flight, so count the suitcases first. Overflowing the sedan? Book the SUV, and flag anything oversized when you reserve.
Yes. iRide360 fits booster, forward-facing and rear-facing child seats, from $25 each. Pick the type and the number at booking, and give each child's age and weight. The seats go in before pickup, whether we collect you at LAX or at the Getty Center for the ride back.
Judge it on four things, then read the Google reviews: a California CPUC license, flight tracking, a fare locked at booking, and pickup at your own terminal instead of LAX-it. By those tests the best car service from LAX is one that publishes all four. iRide360 holds CPUC TCP 43833-A, tracks every arriving flight, gives 60 free minutes after landing and is rated 5.0★ on Google.
Booking
Yes. A Getty Center to LAX ride books the same way as the ride in, and the Getty states that passenger pick-ups are allowed in the same designated area it uses for drop-offs. Book it for the time you expect to be back at the bottom of the hill, since everyone comes down by tram. Like any non-airport pickup, it includes 15 minutes of complimentary wait.
Yes, add a stop between LAX and the museum when you book, or call dispatch before pickup. The extra distance and time are priced into your fare, and the same car and chauffeur stay with you until the last drop-off, so your luggage never leaves the vehicle.
Yes. Change the pickup time, the address or the vehicle online, or call dispatch on (833) 743-3360, and a new address or vehicle is quoted again for the new trip. A delayed flight needs nothing from you at all: we are already watching it, and the pickup slides to your actual landing time.
Get your fixed price for a Getty Center airport transfer online, and book the ride back from the museum at the same time. Or call dispatch any time on (833) 743-3360.
